Rock Imager UV uses a UV-sensitive, black-and-white 1.4 MPx CCD camera with a short exposure time that detects the tryptophan illuminating under UV light. This allows you to quickly distinguish between protein and salt crystals.
Automated Imaging
With Rock Imager UV, you can image and capture crystals in both visible and ultraviolet illumination. There is automatic switching between the UV and visible light optical paths. User-defined schedules for both UV and visible light imaging (on all models except RI2 UV) allows you to capture images at the height of crystal growth. Future models will include automated drop scoring based on UV concentration, blob size, and blob count.
Zoom Options
Rock Imager UV comes in two zoom options: Fixed Zoom and Compound Zoom. The Fixed Zoom option is available with one of the lenses listed in the table to the right. The Compound Zoom option includes all three lenses on a motorized wheel. See the images below for a lens comparison.
