Key Features
Microfluidic Technology
Formulatrix' microfluidic technology redefines liquid handling standards by replacing traditional methods with a microfluidic chip. This chip uses positive displacement micropumps to dispense reagents faster with less waste. Dispenses a 10µL, 384-well plate in less than eight seconds.
Plate Flexibility
Utilizing a motorized XYZ stage, the Tempest is compatible with 96-, 384-, and 1536-well plates. Future models will be compatible with 3456-well plates. The independent control over all 96 nozzles makes dispensing even the most sophisticated of experiments a breeze. Any ingredient, any well, any volume down to 200nL.
12 Ingredient Inputs
Twelve ingredient inputs allow users to dispense highly complex plates; users can also connect the same reagent to all twelve inputs to minimize dispensing time. Since the micropumps pull the reagents from the containers, there is no need to buy specialized bottles -simply use the original ingredient containers.
Extremely Low Dead Volumes
The Tempest has a non-recoverable dead volume of less than 40µL - this is the minimum amount of an ingredient that is lost in the dispense. The Tempest can return any excess sample from the microfluidic chip back into to the ingredient receptacle, allowing for incredibly low dead volumes and increased cost-savings. Typical dead volumes are less than 400µL on samples that cannot be returned to the stock. These dead volumes can be reduced down to 100µL while using a pipette tip as the ingredient receptacle.
