The Formulator is a next generation liquid handler that uses patent-pending microfluidic technology to dispense up to ten times faster than traditional liquid handlers.
Formulatrix' microfluidic technology redefines liquid handling standards by replacing traditional methods with a microfluidic chip. This chip uses positive displacement micropumps to dispense reagents fast and with less waste.
The microfluidic chip has 96 outputs each with its own valve cluster.
Each valve cluster has two micro-diaphragms (200nL & 2.5µL) that can fill and dispense as fast as 3 times per second.
The Formulator's moving stage supports virtually all microplate formats, even those as large as VDX/Linbro plates.
Adding a stock ingredient is fast and easy – just scan the ingredient barcode, turn the bottle upside down, and place it in any of the ingredient inputs on the top of the system. The Formulator currently supports 125mL and 250mL Nalgene Bottles and 50mL Falcon tubes (others available on request).
Formulator 34 has 34 ingredient inputs including: 30 inputs for 50mL Falcon tubes, 3 inputs for 125mL or 250mL Nalgene bottles, and a bulk wash input.
Dispense a 100µL, 3 ingredient, 96-well grid in as little as 2 minutes.
Independent control over each dispense nozzle allows any volume of any reagent to go to any well. A random experiment in a 384-well plate is shown here.
