The chip has 96 outputs each with its own microfluidic valve cluster. Each valve cluster has two micro-diaphragms (200nL and 1µL) that can fill and dispense as fast as 5 times per second.
Each input has two lines that allows for recirculation and can return excess reagent from the microfluidic chip to the stock.
The Tempest can use pipette tips as ingredient inputs to reduce waste even further. Dead volumes can be reduced down to 100µL using this feature. This feature is ideal for dispensing even the most precious samples.

The Tempest has a motorized X, Y, Z stage with one plate capacity and built in wash station. This stage is robot accessible and supports nearly all SBS footprint plates including: 24-, 96-, 384-, and 1536-well plates.
